About James Herbert Wilson
James Herbert Wilson, a chemist who worked for Holliday, Dyes and Chemicals in Huddersfield. Known as “Azo Wilson”, he parted company with Hollidays in 1930. He was
the father of future Prime Minister Harold Wilson. He was a non conformist in religion and an active radical in the local Liberal Party before joining the Labour Party.When his son Harold was 8 he took a (now famous) photograph of him outside No 10 Downing St.
