James is said to have walked the Indian purchase of 1684. Bought 250 acres on the southeast side of Newtown borough in Bucks Co about 1693 from Israel Taylor. In 1728 he built a mill at Newton Creek.
James Yates, on 5 Mar 1729, sold Richard Iliff, of Middletown, cordwainer, a lot of ground in Newtown, containing 134 perches. Richard Iliff, on 29 Nov 1732, sold his lot of 134 perches to Henry Nelson.
