Brief overview:

Jan-Daniel (21), a law student was shot nine times protecting his father when two armed work contractors from another farm stormed his fathers farm, Blikkor, outside Komatipoort. Venter lived there with his father Jan (56), and his mother, police superintendent Elarda Venter, who heads the Modjadjis/Duiwelskloof-police station nearby. Elarda was not present at the time. Jan Venter was shot in the shoulder and tied up. The perpetrators also shot their dog in the paw.
