About Jan Koster
Jan Koster (= Sexton, Verger) was born in December 1821 in the country village of Hoogwoud, located in the northern part of the Dutch western province Noord-Holland, son of Daniel Koster and Maartje Hoogvorst. Source: scan of his birth certificate.
On Saturday 1 April 1854 the 32 years old country man (landman) Jan Koster, married in municipality Zijpe, in the northwestern part of the Dutch western province Noord-Holland the two years younger farm servant Cornelia Ton, born in Akersloot, Noord-Holland, daughter of Jan Ton and Pietertje Stam.
They had the following children:
- Maartje "Martha" Koster [Voss], b. 13 August 1854 in Anna Paulownapolder, Noord-Holland, d. 14 March 1926 in the country village of St. Anne, located about 78 miles south of Chicago, Kankakee County, Ilinois. Find A Grave Memorial# 90315372;

The Anna Paulownapolder, created in 1846, was located in the northern part of the Dutch western province Noord-Holland and became in 1870 a new, independent municipality, called Anna Paulowna, since 2012 a part of the new municipality Hollands Kroon (= Dutch Crown).
Country man Jan Koster died in January 1879 at the age of 57 years at the Boschweg (= Forest road) nearby the village 't Zand in the municipality Zijpe, in the northwestern part of province Noord-Holland.
