At the time of the pioneer crossing the area known as Plumb Creek was at the Indian Camp that had been built on the Loup River. The camp had been used as a stopping place as there was grass and water. There was a Government Indian Station which had been abandoned, I think because of bad water. The soil was sandy and the crossing of the Loupe river was very difficult. The pioneers went up the river several miles to cross the Loupe river and then went south about 25 miles to the Platte river. That crossing was known as Plumb Creek.
