  • MYTTON, Richard (1500/1-91), of Shrewsbury and Halston, Salop and Dinas Mawddwy, Merion. m  (2 or 3) Eleanor, da. of George Harborne, wid. of Richard Beeston of Shrewsbury, 1s. 2da. "He was buried in St. Chad’s church, Shrewsbury, where a monument commemorated him. An anonymous Shrewsbury chronicler also recorded the passing of ‘the gentle Master Mytton’ and later celebrated the virtues of his last wife, who survived him, dying on 30 Jan. 1602 also at the age of 90.10. • Transactions of the Shropshire Archaeological and Natural History Society page 390.  "1 [Mr. Blakeway is evidently in error here. Thomas Oteley, who married a daughter of Richard Mytton, was of Ford, and left two sons, Walter and Richard; he was son, not of John and Anne, but of William Oteley, of Pitchford, Sheriff of Salop in 1500, who died in 1529, and Margery Bruyn. Thomas Oteley, of Whittington, the son of John and Anne, was evidently quite a different person. See Visitation of Salop, 1623; Harl. Soc., p. 381.—Ed.]
