About Jane Stewart
Jane Stewart (Jefferson) “was born in Ireland, whence she came with her parents to America when twelve years of age, and the family becoming pioneers of Belmont county, O., where she was reared to maturity and where her marriage was solemnized.”
She and her husband were “residents of Gallia county, O., at the time of their death. They were members of the Methodist Episcopal church, and in politics he was first a Whig and later a Republican. They became parents of eleven children, namely: Mary, William, John, Jesse, Robert, Nancy, Eli, Frank, Mahlon, Hamilton, and David.”
