Janice Lee McAtee

A memorial service celebration of the life of Janice will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at the Union Church UCC of Tekonsha with Pastor Jennifer Fair officiating. Private interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Tekonsha at a later date. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2022 from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at 1:00 PM at the Union Church UCC in Tekonsha. The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation.

Janice was born December 21, 1933 to Alvin and Beulah (Aldrich) Williams in Tekonsha. She graduated from Tekonsha High School with the Class of 1951. On February 23, 1952 she married Vernon McAtee in Angola, IN. He preceded her in death in 1997. Janice worked for many years at the Oak Factory furniture store in Tekonsha. She enjoyed cats, bridge, playing piano, playing piano for residents at Maplewood in Marshall, bowling, reading, and traveling. She was proud that she traveled to 13 countries: Belgium, Switzerland, Netherlands, Great Britain, Austria, Germany, Italy, France, Mexico, Canada, Scotland, Liechtenstein and Luxembourg. Janice was a member of the Union Church UCC, where she was very active in many activities, including the Chancel Choir, Joy Choir, and the church committee. She was also a member of the Tekonsha Research Club and helped with publication of the Tekonsha IDEA. Janice loved professional football, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Surviving Janice are her children, Teresa McAtee of Westfield, NC, Michele Sica of Bellevue, Judy McAtee of Battle Creek and Jerry McAtee of Palm Bay, FL; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Donna “Jean” (Al) Groholske of Tekonsha. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, Jerry and Robert Williams.
