About Jason Livermore, Rev. War Vet.

1748, he and his brother, Josiah bought a tract of land in the westerly part of Leicester, in part upon Moose Hill. They divided their lands. Jason built a small house on his portion, took his bride to his new home, and in this house they lived the rest of their lives.

He was twice chosen as a surveyor of highways in Leicester.

The town furnished five men in 1756, as her quota for a call of a thousand men from Worcester and Hampton counties. Their names were Ezekiel Bellows, Jacob Wicker, JASON LIVERMORE, David Wicker and John Wicker. These men were in the command of General Ruggles and saw service at Crown Point, Fort Edward, and Ticonderoga. Inscription on his power horn:" Jason Livermore his horn made at Fort Edward Aug 29, 1759". On his return from that unsuccessfull and unfortunate expedition, he came by land through wilderness, with two or three companions, and suffered hardships and privations from cold and hunger.

In 1765, that part of Leicester was incorporated as district by name of Paxton. On March 11, 1765 at home of John Snow, Jason was chosen constable. He was an active and prominent man in Paxton, having aided in the act of incorporation and assisted in the building of the first meeting house. He was one of the members of the first Congregation Church in the town.
