A very shocked Ms. Winnie le Brun (42) from Sunbirdfarm near Eikenhof, south of Johannesburg, said yesterday that her little daughter, Jeanne-Marie, saw her badly wounded father, Jean-Paul, try to flee out the home before robbers shot him dead. The seven-year-old girl sat under a lounge chair a few meters from her father's body for more than two hours after she saw robbers shoot him in the heart.

Le Brun said the family heard the dogs barking just after 21:00 on Thursday night. Her husband went to investigate and did not return. "I heard a shot and saw one of the men pin Jeanne-Marie under a lounge chair. He ordered her not to move.
"Four or five more men rushed at me. They pushed me into the room where my little boy, Jacques, was sleeping on the bed."
One of the men jumped on top of the bed and pressed the pistol to the two-year-old boy's head.
They demanded the safe's key from her.
