Her husband was an alcoholic, and she left him when he started to sell the furniture to pay for his addiction. She left him in Scotland and came out to SA with her 3 daughters and stayed with her mother Granny Parker, In Carstens St, Cape Town. Annie, the oldest, Jean and Christine (Chrissie). Jeanie was a teacher and got a job at Woodstock School - a very upmarket suburb then.
