About Jean de Saussure, seigneur de Dommartin
Jean de Saussure was the second son of Antoine de Saussure and wife Antoinette d'Augy. He was born early in the family's flight from Lorraine, probably in 1551. He married Catherine de Veillet de Scrimgeour in 1575. Their son, Jean-Baptiste, was born in 1576 and was baptized in January, 1576 at Chesaux, in Vaud, Switzerland. Jean died in 1637, at the age of 87.
Catherine de Veillet was the widow of Henry Scrimgeour, originally of Dundee, Scotland. Henry's first wife was Jean's sister, Francoise de Saussure.
Jean de Saussure was married in c.1593 to Elizabeth de Bude, daughter of Jean de Bude and wife Marie de Jouan or Marie de Jonvillers. This information has only been found in web trees is and purely speculative at this point. Elizabeth's date of birth is given as c.1550, with no place of birth, date or place of death.
