Jean Linnell , 88, Valley Memorial Home-Almonte Avenue, formerly of rural Grand Forks, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 1990, in the nursing home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Middle Grove Lutheran Church, rural Grand Forks. Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday in Amundson Funeral Home, and an hour before services in the church.

Jeanette Johnson was born Dec. 27, 1901, the daughter of Lewis and Maren Johnson, in Blooming Township of Grand Forks County, where she grew up and attended schools. She later moved to Vermillion, S.D., to work for a bakery and in retail sales. She married Harold Linnell Oct. 18, 1936, in Vermillion. They moved to Bloomig Township that year to begin farming. Harold Linnell died in April 1974.

Survivors are her son, Gordy, Grand Forks; daughter, Shirley (Mrs. Phillard) Rydberg, Hallock, Minn.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Eva Linnell , Grand Forks.

She was preceded in death by a son, Lloyd; brothers, Joe, John and Nels; and sisters, Mable, Lucy, Lillian, Millie, and Helma.
