About Jeanne Kelly

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeanne_Coyne

Dancer, Choreographer, Actress. She made her Broadway debut in ‘Are You with It?' in November of 1945, progressing from the ensemble to the role of the snake charmer's daughter within six months. She relocated to Hollywood by the mid 1940s, taking an assistant's position with filmmaker and choreographer Stanley Donen. The relationship expanded into a brief marriage but the couple divorce within a year. She than joined the team of assistants working for Gene Kelly at MGM. Her first assignment was ‘On the Town' in 1949, followed by a screen appearance in 1950's ‘Summer Stock.' During the making of ‘Singin' in the Rain' in 1952, Jeanne was assigned to Debbie Reynolds in order to make the young star appear to dance as well as her veteran co-stars. She also appeared on screen during the ‘Beautiful Girl' and ‘All I Do Is Dream of You' numbers. During 1952 and 1953, she flew around Europe assisting in Gene Kelly's dream project ‘Invitation to the Dance.' Her final on screen performance followed that same year, in ‘Kiss Me Kate' while ‘Invitation to the Dance' made it to film in 1956 to lukewarm reviews. She married Gene Kelly in 1960 and with him had two children. After thirteen years of marriage, she passed away at the age of fifty following a battle with leukemia.
