About Jeanne Kritser

Jeanne Howe Kritser, 84, of Amarillo died Saturday, March 23, 2002.

Services will be at noon today in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Clifton Mann, rector of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle.

Mrs. Kritser was born in Atchison, Kan., to Gene and Gale Donald Howe. She was the granddaughter of Ed Howe, a prominent newspaper publisher and author. Her father, Gene Howe, established the Amarillo Globe-News.

Her husband, Shelby Masterson Kritser, was the general manager of the Amarillo Globe-News and the founder of Tradewind Airport. She was a graduate of Amarillo High School and Finch College.

She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, the Junior League of Amarillo and Amarillo Botanical Gardens. She was a founding member of the Amarillo Art Center and a founder and advisory board member of the Amarillo-Panhandle Humane Society. She enjoyed world travel and fine art.

She was preceded in death by her husband; and a grandson, Lee Masterson Kritser.

She is the beloved mother of Sloan Howe Kritser of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Gail Shelby Kritser Wagner of Denver; the grandmother of Phillip Sloan Kritser, Wendy Gail Kritser, Mark Shelby Kritser, Shelby Kritser Wagner and Kelly Katherine Wagner; and one great-grandchild.

The family suggests memorials to Animal Rescue Shelter Inc., 12500 S. Washington St., Amarillo, TX 79118.
