About Jennie May Lee

The above photo of Jennie May Woodbury Lee was found on the website Ancestry.com and was shared there November 28, 2016, by Iris Higgs. She notes that the photo was cropped from an original submitted by another user, "blossomqt." Obituary from Find A Grave.com: Jennie May Woodbury Lee, wife of James H. Lee, mother of eleven children, and grandmother to more than 200 descendants, passed away at the Millcreek Health Center at 1:04 a.m. on September 8, 1998, after 95 plus years of living a life of service. She was born November 7, 1902, the daughter of Charles Robert Goddard Woodbury and Agnes Isadore Bickley, in Beaver City, Utah. She was married to James Horald Lee November 16, 1922, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Her husband and her oldest son, Blaine, preceded her in death.

She has been a pillar of strength, and a wonderful example of loving service to others all her life. She spent more than 50 years doing genealogy and temple work for her dear ancestors, and twice gathered tons of food and clothes to send to the people in Korea, the first time, when her second son, James H. Lee Jr. was there shortly after the Korean war, and again when her youngest son, Rex M. Lee went to Korea on a mission for the Lord.

She raised eleven children, while serving in many positions of responsibility in the LDS Church, and gathering much genealogy, and submitting their names for the temple work to be done. Jennie, with her husband, Jim, also served a mission to Florida for the LDS Church. She has left a legacy of love and service, and been a wonderful example to all she has known and loved.

She is survived by ten living children, Farol Freeman, Los Angeles, California; Irene Otterson, Paulden, Arizona; Ruby R. Buhler, American Fork, Utah; Jennie M. Adam, Clear Lake, California; James H. Jr., West Jordan, Utah; Ralph L., Layton, Utah; Helen Trowbridge, Jerome, Idaho; C. Raymon, Coquille, Oregon; Sharon A. Aellig, Overton, Nevada; and Rex M., Pocatello, Idaho. She also has over 200 grandchildren and great-grandchildren who love her. She will surely be missed by one and all.

Funeral service will be held at the Callie Chapel at 7150 S. Callie Dr. (1520 W) in West Jordan at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 11th with viewing one hour prior to the service. A viewing will also be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, at the Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road. Interment will be at Memorial Estates on the hill on Redwood Road where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, James H. Lee.
