According to the earliest census 1920, he was born Jerome Wentzel, the son of Joseph & Margrett E. Wentzel living in West Pottsgrove, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania as of 1920. By 1930 he was still living in Pottstown, and in 1940 he was living in Knauertown, Chester County, Pennsylvania.

Clyde Park - Mr. and Mrs. Ed Allabaugh have been notified that their son, Technician Fifth Grade Jerry Wentzel, who was previously reported missing in action, is now listed as killed in action June 6 in France. He was a paratrooper.
