Jerry Wayne Quinn

Jerry Wayne Quinn, age 70, of Mt. Vernon died 5:37 a.m. Tuesday July 20, 2010 at the VA Medical Center in Marion.

Jerry was born July 18, 1940 in Mount Vernon, IL a son of Robert Lee and Vona M. (Reynolds) Quinn .He was married Katherine Potts and she survives in Tennessee.

Jerry was a self-employed iron worker in the Elgin, Illinois area for most of his career. He also owned and operated Emerald Bait and Tackle in South Elgin for over 25 years. Jerry served his country in United States Navy. Jerry was a Master Mason and a long time member of Lodge 117 in Elgin. He was also an active Shriner. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents, maternal grandparents ,Sam and Florence (Vanatta) Reynolds; paternal grandparents, Robert and Lizzie (Lee) Quinn; brother-in-law, William E. Tucker; mother-in-law, Bethel Potts; and also several nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his wife Katherine Quinn, daughter, Sandra K "Cricket" Barton and special friend Richard Gonzalez of South Elgin, IL; two brothers, Billy L. Quinn and Garry D. Quinn both of Mt. Vernon, IL; two sisters, Mary F. and husband Nolan Mc Kowen of Mt. Vernon, IL and Patsy E. Tucker of Sycamore, IL; he is also survived by two grandchildren, Gerri Lynn Barton of Mt. Vernon and Doug "Pudge" Barton of South Elgin; And also a special companion Trixie.

Memorial Services for Jerry Wayne Quinn will be held Friday Evening 7 p.m. at the Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Reverend Ron Reynolds officiating. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 141 of Mt. Vernon. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5 p.m. until the funeral hour.
