About Jesse Franklin Crockett
In the 1870 Weakley County TN census there is a J. F. Crockett, 22, with a W. T. Crockett, 28, and WT's wife Mary E. Crockett, 28, and their children Lizzie E, 2, and Emily, 6 months. (Only problem is, the W.T. Crockett in a later census lists his father as born Alabama, not TN. So maybe no relation to Jesse's line. But he is a contemporary, so maybe cousins?) This WT and ME Crockett are both buried in a separate Crockett Cemetery in Weakly County TN, per "Weakley County Cemeteries - Volume 1" Their dates are Crockett, W.T., Oct 8, 1841 - Feb 1, 1911, age 69y 3m 23d; Crockett, M.E., July 14, 1842 - Nov 12, 1912
In the 1880 federal census he and wife Emily are living at Raulston Station, Weakley, Tenn; Farmer; parents born Tenn, with son John (named after his father), one year old at the time. They are next door to John A. Gardner, 58; his wife Sarah, 48; their son William B, 11; John's sister Sousin, 47. A page away there is a Nancy Crockett, 59; with her daughter Mary A, 40; son James R, 22; and Sampson, 19. Also grandson Willam S. Crockett (hard to read age - possibly 19?) and Isabell P Crockett, 19, daughter-in-law (or Sampson's wife so granddaughter-in-law? not clear) (And they are living next to a John and Susan Stalcup.) A couple of doors down there is a William T Crockett, 38, with wife Mary E, daughters Dora E. 12; Mary E, 10; Louella, 6; and Cora, 5.
In the 1900 census lists his birth date as Oct 1847; it says he and Emily have been married 26 years; are living in civil district 8, Weakley TN with son John F, 21, son Jesse C, 19, William C, 15, and daughter Allis D (Alice) 12. All born Tennessee.
In the 1910 census he and Emily are living in Civil District 18, Weakley TN.
(His parents, John and Elizabeth Gardner Crockett, are mentioned in the state of Tennessee death record for Jesse F. Crockett.)
Obituary for Jesse Franklin Crockett:
"Jesse Crockett was born October 12, 1847; died November 11, 1914, aged sixty seven years and twenty-nine days. To this union was born six children, of whom only four survive. The funeral services were conducted by Revs. W.H. Whitson and D. C. Hall, after which the remains were tenderly laid to rest in the Stewart graveyard, near Pleasant Hill."
