Jezreel Groseclose

Birth is variously listed as 9/1/1807 in Rich Valley (Smythe County), VA or 2/16/1812 in Wythe County (in what later became Bland County), VA. Death is listed as either 11/20/1856 or 11/22/1856.

Note that there is a "Jezrell Groseclose", a different person, who was listed as 78 years old in the "Virginia 1910 Census Miracode Index" (and thereby having a birth year of approx. 1832).

Listed as "Jezreel" in the The Decendents of CAPT Thomas Carter source as well as the well-researched Anthony W. Cox Geneology.

Listed as (apparently) "Jezreal" in the 1850 census, where he is living on a $2500 farm with his wife and children. Interestingly, on the neighboring farm in that census is Jezreel's mother Elizabeth (at 70, but possibly should be 80) , living with her son William and his wife Adeline and their children on a $3500 farm.

Jezreel and his family are mentioned in The Descendants of CAPT Thomas Carter :

 39. Charles Burr Carter, third son of Norris and Agnes Allen Carter, born about 1776, died in 1842, was a farmer in Scott county. He married Nancy Taylor and had issue :

 a. Taylor W., who was an invalid for many years and died in 1838 unmarried. He is said to have been well educated and had he had good health would have been one of the prominent men of his section.

 b. Ibbie, married in 1839 John Duncan and died in 1843.

 c. Margaret, married Jezreel Groseclose, of Wythe county (now Bland) and had issue three daughters: Adeline married Maj. <nowiki>-------</nowiki> Repass; Nancy married Jerome Harmon; and Ibbie married Dr. Repass.  No other data.
