About Joan Dakeney

Notes for JOAN DAKENEY:

The shield of James Echyngham has his arms impaled with one that looks like one in Foster" Joan Dabeni". Joan

is married and still has a guardian according to Nigel Saul in his book " Scenes of Provincial Life" Knightly

family of Sussex 1986. The shield has been identified as probably belonging to Baldwin Daubeney or Dakeny.

Need to find more. The shield is blue with gold cross and lions rampant and listed in Fosters Heraldry. Nigel

Saul who wrote the book "Scene from provincial Life' says a member of the college of Arms identified the

impaled shield as Dakeney.
