About Johan (John) Olsen Sønju
Civil War veteran, enrolled in Rochester, MN March 28,1865 as a Private with Company H, !st Minn. Infantry. Mustered out July 14 1865 in Jeffersonville, IN. He married Annie Sorine Helgerson in Rock Dell, Olmsted Co. Minn. Dec. 23, 1869 by Rev. J.A. Thorsen. In 1885, he became a member of the GAR, Custer Post 44, Rochester. Before moving to Becker Co., he lived in Dodge and Olmsted Counties.
