MEEDING JOHANN FRIEDRICH (S). - Finkenstein in West Prussia. Son of Rev. Johann Jacob Maeding and Sophia Albertina Bernhardi. * 4.11.1751 (W. Schmidt, p. 187). So. 1776-79, woodcutter at Outeniquasbosch 1780-83, substitute-landdrost of Swellendam 1784-85, superintendent at Outeniquasbosch 1786, at Plettenberg Bay since 1787. ~ 14.10.1781 Maria Martha Terblanche. 6 children. (GMR 1776-89; G.R. nr. 599; Test. O.C. 66: 29; CJ 1555 under 1.2.1794.) Cf. Lichtenstein, Reisen, I, pp. 326 and 329. According to Lichtenstein, Meeding had studied at Greifswald and was universally esteemed on account of his strict integrity and extensive knowledge.
