Johann immigrated from Saratov, Russia to New York on 7/31/1876 on the SS.City of Montreal. His wife and seven children sailed with him.

They settled in Marion County, KS, lived in a dugout, then purchased 160 acres for their home near Tampa.

1907 - He purchased another farm in Blaine Co., OK from his son-in-law Henry J. Schuber.

He was married three times. Maria was his first wife.
