Johann Leonhard Kloz at age 15, came with his father & mother to Pennsylvania from the Palatinate of Germany, on the ship "Chesterfield". On 2 Sep 1749 he signed an Oath of Allegiance to the government at the Philadelphia Court House along with his father Johann Jacob Klotz, Sr, and brother Johann Jacob Klotz, II.

Berks County, PA is where Jacob Leonhard lived, married, had 10 children, was a weaver by trade and served as a Private, 6th Class in the Berks County, PA Militia during 1777.

In 1782 he and family moved to Rowan, NC in search of more land and a new beginning. He died at age 50.

  • Married (1st) 11 Feb. 1715 in Simmozheim to Anna Catherine Durr (daughter of Jacob Hans & Anna Durr). Anna Catherine was born March 1683 and died 5 Dec., 1721 - Buried in Simmozheim Germany.

  • Married (2nd) 28 July, 1722 in Simmozheim to Martha Faissler (daughter of Johann Michael Faissler & Ursula Wagner) Martha born 9 May, 1701 in Simmozheim. The whereabouts of their graves in America is unknown.

Johann Leonard Klotz

Leonard followed his brother after 1780, as he is listed in the Pennsylvania census in 1780. He married Margartha Schall. The brothers brought their families with them and settled in the eastern section of Rowan County surrounding Grace Lower Stone Reformed Church and spilled over into Township 6 of Cabarrus County
