He lived on a peninsula on the Raystown branch of the Juniata river. He was born between 1730 and1740. He died in 1802.

His children were: Abraham b. 1763 d. 1837 Married Elizabeth Gerhart b. 1769 d. 1844 They had 9 children-4 sons and 5 daughters.

Jacob b abt 1772 d Aug 9, 1837 Married Mary Elizabeth Smith Moved to Ashland County, Ohio. They had 11 children-7 sons and 4 daughters.

Philip b. between 1756 and 1760 d. abt 1840 Married Susannah (Ochs) Oaks who died in 1854 at age 98. They lived near Salisbury, Somerset county, PA He lived and died near New Bedford, Holmes County and is buried on the farm of his son. He was a wagon maker. They had 6 children born in Bedford County.

George Jr. Thought to have lived in western PA. Had no known children.

Elizabeth b. abt 1760 Married William Stultz now spelled Stults. May have lived in Huntington, Ind. They had 8 children- 2 sons and 6 daughters.

Mary d. about 1866 Aged 104 yr 4 mo. in Westmoreland Co, PA. Married John Conner. They had 7 sons and 2 daughters.

Catharine. Married John Young Died Aug 17, 1875 aged 98 yrs. Buried Ray's Hill Cemetery, Breezewood, PA. They had 9 children-2 sons and 7 daughters.

WILL OF GEORGE STEELE

Will book 1, page 167 August 31, 1801, Bedford County, Pennsylvania

In the name of God, Amen. I, George Steele of the Twp. of Hopewell and County of Bedford in the State of Pennsylvania, Yeomen being very sick and weak in body but of sound mind, memory and understanding blessed be God for the same. But considering the uncertainty of this transitory life do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following to wit. Principally and 1st of all I commend my immortal soul into the hands of God who gave it and my body to the Earth to be buried in a decent and Christian like manner at the discretion of my Executor herein after name and as to such worldly Estate were with it both pleased God to bless me in this life I give and dispose of the same in the following [to wit] 1st of all it is my Will that all my just debts and funeral charges be fully paid and satisfied, then I give and devise to dear wife Margaret during her natural life thy house I now reside in together with the garden and meadows adjoining said house lying between Juniata and the house my son Jacob now resides in together with all the appristenances there into belonging . Then I give and devise to my son Jacob all my Lands which I purchased from Benjamin Sutore in the Twp. of Hopewell aforesaid which I now reside on containing 50 acres. Allowance of 6 pi. out be the same more or less together with my improvement adjoining the same improved in the year 1790 containing 50 acres being the same more or less which contracts or pieces of land to him my said son Jacob and his heirs and assigns forever. Subject to such privileges above mentioned to my said wife or here after to be mentioned to her and my said son Jacob as to give to my wife out of said kind 15 bushels of Wheat, 10 bushels of rye and 10 bushels of Indian Corn yearly during her life and my son Jacob is to take the grain to the mill for my said Wife and bring the flour to her and also to haul dung into the garden and plow it and find her fire wood at her door and plow and sow her 1 quarter acre of flax along side of his own to be done yearly as long as she may live. ITEM I give and bequeath Abraham, George, Phillip and my daughter's Mary, Elizabeth, and Catherine 7 shillings and 6 pence each or to each of their heirs and is touching all the the rest residue and remainder of my estate real and personal of what kind or nature so ever the some may be in the County of Bedford aforesaid or elsewhere I give and devise the same unto my dear Wife Margaret during her natural life and from immediately after her decease. I give and devise of the same unto my son Jacob or his survivors forever and lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my said son Jacob to be executor of this my last Will hereby revoking all other Wills, legacies and bequests by me hereto fore made and declaring that this and no other to be my last Will and testament in Witness where of I have here unto set my hand and seal the 20th Jan 1801. George was buried in a farm cemetery that no longer exists and they have placed a memorial for him at Warrior's Path State Park at Saxton for him which is near the original burial site. He was a veteran of the Revolutionary War.

From his will, which is recorded at Bedford, in Will book 1, page 169, the names of his children were Abraham, Jacob, Philip, George, Elizabeth, Mary and Catherine. My line is this: George, Philip, George, George, Moses S, Charles Edward and Paul Victor Steele. Philip migrated to the area of Holmes, Wayne and Coshocton counties of Ohio. Then other family members migrated to North Liberty, Indiana.
