About Johanna Gertrud Berkovicz


According to the Yad VaShem's Central DB for Shoah Victims' names, Johanna was murdered in the Holocaust: https://yvng.yadvashem.org/nameDetails.html?language=en&itemId=1149...

However, according to recent findings by Jean-Luc Strauss, Johanna survived the Holocaust. She was deported to Gurs on 22.10.1940. In April 1942 she was allowed to go to Hôtel Bompard in Marseille to wait for her visa and departure to the USA, which was not successful, as she was deported to Rivesaltes in the same year. In 1945 she was alive in Perigueux and in 1946 she immigrated to the USA.
