Johanna Graunger (Hanscombe)

Sir Thomas More's great-grandson, Cresacre More, stated that the mother of Sir Thomas was "Johanna, daughter of one Hanscombe of Holywell in Bedfordshire". However, research has conclusively proved that Thomas More's mother was Agnes, daughter of Thomas Graunger.

It has now been concluded that Johanna Hanscombe was, instead, Sir Thomas More's maternal grandmother -- the wife of Thomas Graunger and the mother of Agnes (Graunger) More.
