About Johanna Meyer
"Johanna Pasmun emigrated from Germany to Liverpool in England with her family in around 1867 where they were part of the sugar refining industry. The work was hazardous though and life expectancies shorter than usual. Nine years later the family sailed to New Zealand on board the New Zealand Shipping Company’s sailing ship Ōrari, arriving on 2 November 1876 after a passage that was “prolonged by contrary winds.” Named for a small South-Canterbury town in New Zealand’s South Island, the Ōrari would complete 18 voyages to New Zealand in total. Johanna was my third great grandmother." Read the full biography by Debbie McCauley at this link https://debbiemccauleyauthor.wordpress.com/biographies/johanna-meye...
