After her husband died in Sweden, Johanna Charlotta Peterson came to Minnesta with her daughter "Betty" in 1870. It is said that her "cousin" Charles A. Erickson of Red Wing, MN "sent for her." In the 1870 US census and 1875 Minnesota census Johanna C. Peterson and her daughter Betty were living with Charles A. and his wife Augusta (Foss) Erickson in Red Wing. Johanna Charlotte was listed as "cousin" and Betty was listed as "niece" to Charles A Erickson. In 1885 Johanna Charlotta was living with her daughter and son-in-law Betty and Charles L. Lindau in Red Wing. Johanna Charlotta Peterson died at age 63.
