His "Swartland" Baptism Record (dated 16.10.1818) specifies that he was from the farm, "Paardeberg". His full names were Johannes Jacobus Nicolaas Kotze Bauermeister, but the "Kotze" did not appear in subsequent documentation. (See Sources)

The "Swartland" Bauermeister - Basson Marriage Record (dated 25.2.1841) aslo refers to Bauermeister as residing on the farm, "Paardenberg". (See Sources)

When Johannes Jacobus Nicolaas (Kotze) Bauermeister and Maria Magdalena Basson baptized their daughter Anna Christina in "Swartland" (Malmesbury) on 2 Jan 1842, the witnesses included Christiaan Coenraad Basson, Basson's father, as well as Aletta Margaretha Kotze, Bauermeister's mother.
