Ahtila, John Walter Thurs 24 Aug 1967 Fort William Daily Times Journal A Ware Township man was found shot to death a half-mile west of his home in a woodlot at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The body of John Walter Ahtila, 41, was discovered by his wife who notified OPP at Port Arthur. Police said the man died from a bullet wound to the heart and a .303 Lee Enfield rifle was found near the body. There is no suspicion of foul play. Besides his wife Eva whom he married in 1950 he is survived by two sons and three daughters, all at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Onni Ahtila, Kaministiquia; four brothers, Walter in British Columbia; Eino, at McKenzie; and Taino and Waino, McIntyre Township; two sisters, Mrs. Lauri Jalava, 185 S. Windemere Ave., Port Arthur, and Mrs. Ernie Kronrie, Winnipeg. Mr. Ahtila was born in Saskatchewan.
