About John Wesley Alger, Sr
Son of John Abraham Alger and Josephine F. Meadows; husband of Myrtle Alger.
John Wesley Alger, 67, of Rt. 1, Elkton died of an apparent heart attack Friday afternoon, Nov. 15.
Mr. Alger was stricken at his home and was dead on arrival at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 5, 1907 in Page County and was a son of the late John A. and Josephine Meadows Alger.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Eppard of Staunton, Mrs. Shirley Wyant of Elkton and Mrs. Gladys Casen of Harrisonburg; three sisters, Mrs. Edith Samuels and Mrs. Ethel Wyant, both of Elkton and Mrs. Elsie Taylor of Harrisonburg; a brother, William Alger of Elkton, and three half-brothers, Buck, Jesse and Michael, all of Stanley.
The funeral was conducted Sunday at Bear Lithia Baptist Church by the Rev. George H. Shivers. Burial was in Mowbray family cemetery.
