About John Anderson

Not the son of Robert Anderson, Jr. & Mary Anderson

Biography

From https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Anderson-9145

John Anderson's birth is seen as 1694 or 1695 in Perquimans, North Carolina however no primary source record of his birth has as yet been found. Property records for Perquimans County indicate that his father may also have been named John Anderson for a planter of this name is quite active in the area with records starting about 1702 but the relationship between the two John Andersons has not been established. There is no documentation that he is the son of Robert Anderson and Mary Overton and this relationship is purely speculative.

A marriage intention between John Anderson and Elizabeth Nicholson is recorded 6 May 1719[1] and the marriage is recorded 28 May 1719.[2] It should be noted that the marriage intention is in some sources incorrectly transcribed as 1 Apr 1719 but that date is an error. There is no precise record of all their children.

No death record for John Anderson has been found and it has been seen as being "before 1757" in an unknown location to as late as 1779 in Virginia (with no documentation). In the Land Records below it should be noted that in 1746 a John Anderson is referenced as deceased (no. 56). However he is referenced in the will of his mother-in-law probated in January 1748[3]. Certainly in 1751 his wife Elizabeth gave 150 acres each to two sons probably indicating John had already died which would place his death in Perquimans[4]. It should be noted that the Perquimans Monthly Meeting minutes are not complete and thus his death record may simply be missing.
