He was born Johann Georg Bamberg in Bamberg, Baveria, Germany in June 1760.

Husband of Mary Ann Allen. It is believed that they were married in January 1781 in Lexington, South Carolina, USA.

Father of the following known children: John Frederick, Nancy Rose, Rachel, Stephen, George, Daniel, Anna Catherine and daughter Bamberg.

Many of John & Mary Bamberg's decendants were located in South Carolina, Louisiana and Alabama until more recently. Now they are scattered all over the United States.
