About John Bentley
MRS PRESTON WOODSIDE John Bentley and his wife Sarah Cousins came from England and bought a farm in Margate. They had a family of five. Charlotte, Hannah, Caroline, James and John. Hannah married John Woodside, of Clinton and they bought her fathers farm. They had two boys, Ira and Preston. John Woodside was a machinist and worked for the Massy Harris Company for some years. He had a wood working shop, where he made a lot of articles including spinning wheels, wood winders, etc. Preston took a course in Electrical Engineering and worked as an electrician for some years, later acquiring his father's farm. Preston married Prescilla Frizzell of Stanchel and they had a family of six.
James married Betty Peters, of Kelvin and live in Margate.
Hilbert married Joyce Peters of Kelvin, and live in Kensington.
Marjory married David Stewart and live in Hamilton, Ontario.
Dorris married Stan Parsons and live in St. John, N.B.
Merilla married Wayne Crossman and live in Central Bedeque.
Preston, Jr. at home After her husband's death, Mrs. Woodside sold the farm to Ralph Adams, retaining the house and five acres of Land p.46 The History of Margate Prince Edward Island 1800-1973 something haywire here as John's father and mother came from England, his mother Hannah Smith having been born on the ship outbound in 1799, so unless there was a return by Hannah to the old sot where she could have given birth, highly unlikely the info re his origin in England is an error. djm 2011-03-26

iv. Sarah was born circa 1826 in Burlington, Prince County, Prince Edward Island. She married John Bentley on 22 November 1847. She died in 1870 in Margate.
v. Caroline was born circa 1828 in Burlington, Prince County, Prince Edward Island. She married John M'Kay.
vi. James was born in 1832 in Burlington, Prince County, Prince Edward Island, Canada. He married Elizabeth Gunn. He died on 4 January 1886 in Breadalbane, Queens County, Prince Edward Island, Canada.
vii. Charlotte was born in 1833 in Burlington, Prince County, Prince Edward Island. She married William Weeks. She died in 1870 in Breadalbane, Prince Edward Island, Canada.
