About John Warren Bourn

Born in Manchester, Vermont. Married c. 1895. Was in Bennington, as a boarder away from his wife and daughter, in the 1900 Census. Was working there as a an express messenger.

Moved to Greenfield by 1910 after Grace's death. Boarded there for decades with the family of Margarite Kennedy, though she remained listed as married (but not living with her husband) in each census. Listed as a wage worker for B&M Railroad in the baggage department in Greenfield.

A personals listing in the Greenfield Recorder of October 2, 1912 said:

John Bourn, night baggage-master at the depot, has resigned and H. C. Wheeler has been appointed as his successor.

Notice of his death in 1939 was sent back to the town clerk in Manchester. No cause of death was given on that record.

Great-grandson Douglas Burchards has John's hand-written journal from 1906-1907.
