- John owned land as early as 1812 in Jackson County, Mississippi John moved to the Gulf Coast, apparently about 1810 or 1811. He commuted between Jackson County, Mississippi, and Mobile. Censuses locate John Bradford in Jackson County in 1830 and Mobile in 1840. John's children also appear in the censuses of the areas.( A third generation member of Henry's line, also named Henry, removed to Yazoo County, Mississippi, about 1836 and remained there until his death, leaving many descendants in the area.) - "We know very little about our Vaughans. What I have found, I have had to piece together with the help of records and other researchers. The first of our Vaughan ancestors to come to Mississippi was John Bradford Vaughan, born 10 April, 1760 in Northhampton County, NC. John died in 1851 in Mobile County, AL. He married first to Sarah Gayle Singleton, daughter of Robert Singleton and Sarah Gayle. He married second Winnie Elizabeth Harrell Daughdrill, widow of John Daughdrill, of Greene County, MS. John Bradford Vaughan and Sarah Gayle Singleton were the parents of 7 children:"
