John1 Bradford was born Abt. 1692 in Fauquier Co., Virginia, and died Abt. 1753. He married Mary Marr 1715, daughter of John Marr.

Notes for Mary Marr:

She was the widow of Thomas Kingcart, Jr., of Calvert Co., Maryland, and had by him a daughter, Martha Kingcart who married (1) John McBee and (2) Dr. William Kern.

John Bradford was born between 1690 and 1695. He was probably born in Stafford County, Virginia. His parentage is unknown at this time. He married in about 1717, Mary Marr Kingcart. Mary was born in about 1695 in Virginia, probably in Lancaster County, the daughter of John Marr and his first wife, whose name is not known. The Marrs moved to Stafford County in about 1700. Mary was the widow of Thomas Kingcart, Jr. of Calvert County, Maryland. Thomas and Mary Marr Kingcart had one daughter, Martha. Thomas Kingcart died in 1715.

In 1720, King George County, Virginia was formed from parts of Richmond and Stafford Counties. The area where John and Mary Bradford lived apparently was in the newly formed King George County. As shown in the earlier article from the Genealogies of Virginia Families, John Bradford had been granted land, and had a home in King George County by 1822. This land was originally surveyed for Thomas Kingcart, the late husband of John's wife, Mary Marr Kingcart. This land, and another 125 acres he later from purchased William Russell in 1728, adjoined land owned by the Marr Family. John and Mary Bradford had nine known children.

In 1731, the area John owned in King George County, was included in another new county, Prince William. On the 1737 Quit Rent Roll of Prince William County, John is shown with 250 acres. It is assumed John was a farmer.

John Bradford received a grant of 309 acres in Prince William County in 1748. This land adjoined his other land. He now owned 559 acres in Prince William County.

John Bradford died between 1748-1753 in Prince William County, Virginia.

Mary Bradford did not remarry. She remained in Prince William County, and was there when her land became a part of Fauquier County in 1759. Mary Marr Kingcart Bradford, died July 6, 1775, probably in Fauquier County, Virginia. She would have been about eighty years of age.
