About John Cooley, of Ipswich

Biography

From https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Cooley-2703

John Cooley died in Ipswich, Massachusetts, in 1654 (apparently in about January or February 1653/4). He did not leave a will. Administration of the estate was granted to his widow, Elizabeth Cooley. Inventory of the estate was taken on 14 March 1653 (this date probably should be interpreted as 14 March 1653/4). The total valuation was 66 pounds, 14 s, 8 d, of which 18 pounds was real estate and the remainder was personal estate.[3]

Anderson suggests that John Cooley may have had a daughter Mary ___ who became first wife of Richard Kimball. This appears to be based on the fact that Richard sold land and his dwelling house, which was that of John Cooley deceased, to Caleb Kimball.

From https://mathcs.clarku.edu/~djoyce/gen/report/rr02/rr02_063.html#P89039

Richard Kimball first married Mary Cooley, daughter of John Cooley (ca 1597/8-Mar 1653/4) & Elizabeth Antrobus (ca 1598-). Born ca 1628 in St Albans, Hertfordshire. Mary was baptized in St Albans, Hertfordshire, on 23 Mar 1628. Mary died on 2 Sep 1672 in Wenham, MA. It isn’t clear what makes the connection between Mary, daughter of John and Elizabeth Cooley, and Mary, the wife of Richard Kimball. John’s will did not name his daughters
