History - John Crandall had been called by Brigham Young to take the Church cattle herd and go to Cache Valley in the spring of 1856. In August of that year he died. His wife being pregnant, loaded him and her 3 children into their wagon, and drove the ox team to Salt Lake City, taking her 3 days.
