- 1861 census: age 4, living with mother and 2 siblings in Llangovan - surname taken from mother (Musto).
- 1871 census: age 15, outdoor farm servant at Trecastle farm of Blower family in Llangovan - mother Mary Ann (Prosser) in nearby cottage.
- 1881 census: age 25, a coal miner, boarding with Isaac family at Hafod, Llanwonno.
- 1881: a timberman, marriage to Sophia Smith in Llantillio Pertholey.
- (teapot handed down through family inscribed "Sophia Douglas, Jenkins Street, Parth, 1886" - Parth presumably Porth - Jenkins Street was where Edward Musto senior and family lived in 1891, with Robert Prosser).
- 1891 census: age 37, agricultural labourer, living with Sophia at 11 Eriw Road, Brittania Hafod, Ystradyfodwg.
- 1901 census: farmer, living at Tynant Cottages, Lantwit Fardre, with Sophia and Edward Musto (half-nephew).
- 1903?: George (E.G.N.) Simpson, brought up by Douglas family after his mother Emily's death. His daughter Emily was given the middle name Sophia.
- 1911 census: Head of household (4m, 2f) at Llettyrafel Farm, Cadoxton. Listed as age 53, married, farmer. Living with wife Sophia, half-nephew George Simpson (listed as Douglas), Ila Simpson ( George's sister Illa Florence Simpson) - a domestic servant, plus a farm labourer and a vistor (Engine Driver)
- 19??: moved to Lock Cottage, Withington, Hereford.
- 1927: described as a retired farmer on wife's death certificate.
- 1935: died in Hereford district, age 79. Left £274 10s 4d in will.
