Settlement certificate 2774/13/62
Found amongst the Kimbolton Parish material. The overseers of the poor of the parish of Brampton acknowledge John Donkley thatcher and Sarah his wife and their children as legally settled in the parish of Brampton and agree to maintain them if they fall on the oparish. (John and Sarah came back to Brampton to have a son Isaac Hoddle baptised in 1773, and they had a son John baptised there in 1767 so they were in Kimbolton between 1767-73 which fits in with the period that we are looking at for the baptism of William Dunkley father of John born 1808.
John Dunkley went to South Africa around 1850 – 4 or 5 years after his wife Joanna and daughter Louisa died as a result of childbirth.
John Dunkley’s will 4th April 1864
John was a cabinet maker and left the following property –

To daughter Emily Joanna Dunkley 3 houses situated Long Market Street, Cape Town
To his two daughters he also left house and ground adjoining situated Long Market Street, together with all household goods etc. whether in the Colony or in Europe to be divided equally. His daughters were appointed Executrixes.
