John EYRE, of Wedhampton and Northcombe. This gentleman m. first, Margaret, dau. of John Button, of Alton, in Wilts; and secondly, Jane, dau. of John Cusse, esq. of Broughton Giffard.

By the first wife he had issue,

1. JoHN, of Wedhampton, M. P. for the county of Wilts in 1563, married Alice, daughter and co-heir of Stephen Payne, of Motcombe, in the same shire, and had (with two dau. Mary, who d. s. p. and Edith, the wife of Nicholas Bacon, esq. of Whiteparish) two sons, the elder, John, of Wedhampton and Chalfield, M. P. for New Sarum in 1571, m. Anne, eldest dau. and co-heir of Thomas Tropenell, esq. of Chalfield, Wilts, and had (with four daughters, Elizabeth, wife of John Bowshire, of Cothil Alford, in Wilts; Mary, of Burdett, of Sunning; Margaret, of Quinton; and Susanna, of Scrope, of Castlecombe) a son and heir, SiR WILLIAM EY RE, knt. of Chalfield, M. P. for Wilts in 1597, who m. first, Anne, dau. of Sir Edward Bavnton, of Bromham, and had three sons, viz. Joh N (Sir), his heir. Edward, d. s. p. William (Sir), of Neston, Wilts. He wedded, 2dly, Elizabeth, dau.of John Jackman,of London, and by her had two other sons, Henry and Robert, who left issue; and three daughters, viz. Anne, the wife of John Long, of Wraxhall, esq.; Lucy, and Olive. He was s. by his eldest son, SIR John EY RE, of Chalfield, M. P. for Calne in 1625.

By his second wife (Jane Cusse) John Eyre, esq. had issue, RoBERT EY RE, esq. M. P. for New Sarum in 1557, and mayor of that city in 1559, m. Joan, widow of George Turney, of the same place, and had a son ...
