About John Henry Fulton
GEDCOM Note
Died at a Veteran’s Home in Washington State where he lived with his 2nd wife. Served in Civil War under 2 different enlistments. Enlisted in 1st Michigan Infantry at the start of the war; mustered out the first time due to disability in January 1863, at Potomac Creek, VA which is near Fredericksburg. His regiment did fight at Fredericksburg, as well as in an expedition along the Rappahannock River after the battle. Rejoined 5th Michigan Infantry in February 1864, and served until end of the war, being discharged in May 1865 at Columbus, Ohio. As part of the 5th Regiment, he would have been present at Appomattox, as well as marched in the Grand Review in Washington, DC.
Unknown why he and the wife moved to Washington State about October 1908 - pension files indicate he was a farmer there. No 1900 census found.
Is buried in Veterans Home Cemetery in Kitsap County Washington. Veterans home still exists there today.
