About John Gayle
They were living in King and Queen County, VA in 1765.
This family of Gales might have been related to Thomas Whitney Gale and his wife Mary Griffith whose daughter Alice Gale was born 23 December 1744 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia, married Thomas Jefferson Amis, and died 24 November 1784 in Ebbings Springs, Hawkins County, Tennessee. Thomas Amis, like William Nathaniel Gale, kept an inn in Hawkins County, Tennessee. However, seven children of Thomas Whitney Gale are known, but no daughter Susanna.
Another possibility is the family of Dr. William Gayle, of Scott County, Kentucky. His wife was a granddaughter of Rev. Craig. He was born a generation later than Susanna Gale and William Nathaniel Gale, but his parents are unknown.
A Joseph Gayle married Elizabeth Morgan, 30 November 1769 in Gloucester County, Virginia. They were the same generation as Susanna Gale and William Nathaniel Gale, but Joseph's parents are unknown.
There was also a Gale family in Virginia and Maryland, connected to the Warners and Custises. Of that family, Col. George Gale married Mildred Warner and was step-father of George Washington.
