Born in Antrim Township, Franklin County,Pennsylvania; early settler with son Thomas and others, all farmed 1 - 2 miles east of Xenia on the Old Ohio Main toll road, buried with wife at Massies Creek old churchyard cemetery, she was Martha Parks Gibson. After the father died, Tom and others moved westward to Hale Township, west of Monmouth, Warren County, Illinois to start new settlement and new Seceder Church. They moved to ILL in 1830-1831 and established Sugar Tree Grove Presbyterian Church. The dirt of John and Martha's Xenia, Ohio farm is jet black, packs perfectly and smells like earth should smell. This is outstanding soil for a farmer to grow in. John and Martha lived right next door to their son Thomas and his family and they worked together every day. Almost a 'Walton Affair' of 1970's TV fare.
