About John Grant of Brunswick Parish
Not the same as John Grant
(John Grant) He was born about 1704 prob in Richmond Co, VA., later King George Co, VA. Died on 25 Jun 1762 in King George Co VA, and left a detailed will. John was a tobacco inspector at Morton's Landing & gentleman Justice of King George Co, VA. He first married Margaret BRONAUGH, daughter of Jeremiah BRONAUGH (ca 1672-ca 1749), abt 1727 in King George Co, VA. Died in Mar 1756 in Prince William or King George Co, VA.[2]
In her book, A History of the Bronaugh Family in America, Amelia Bronaugh Benson stated, "The name is of French origin being changed from Bruneau to Bronaugh. The Bronaughs were Huguenots who fled from persecution in France to England where they were naturalized in 1631," p. 58.[3]
These Grant family ancestors are very early immigrants - just 24 years before the founding of Jamestowne in 1607.
