VIII (1539) John Gyse and Tasy, and their son Anselme and his wife Alice (prob. just m.) exchanged manor and lordships of "Asple Gyse, co. Beds., and Wyggyngton, co. Oxon" with the King for manor and lordship of Brockworth, etc. Deed recites that John Gyse had indentured 24 Feb. 10 Hen. VIII (1518-9) convenanting to convey to his young son Anselme on m. to Alice, dau. James Clifford of Frampton-upon-Severne, estates in Wyggyngton, and in further agreements same date both parents undertook to share equally the costs of "school learning, meat, drink, apparel" of Anselme until aged 17, and if Alice die, Anselme to have another Clifford dau. within 10 years of his age. Anselme d.s.p. 9 May 1563 (Inq.p.m. 5 Eliz No. 22) next heir his brother William aged 49+. (Bristol and Gloucs., cit. 59-61).
