John Hatfield (1971 - 2013)
Brief overview:
John (42), was walking on Entombeni Drive, Amanzimtoti, around 17h00, on 21st June 2013, when he was attacked by a gang of seven teens with knives. He was stabbed in the back, which had severed a vein.
John had no valuables on his person, only small change.
John managed to walk to a nearby house where workmen were repairing a gate, who alerted the owner of the house. The home-owner called his mother Pearl, and she phoned her other son Carl, who collected John and took him to a private hospital. As John didn't have medical insurance, he was transferred to the Prince Mshiyeni Hospital.
He underwent surgery, but due to blood loss, he suffered multiple organ failure and died in hospital.
